UNION DEFEATS KNIGHTS 9-0

Potsdam, NY - A tightly contested first half turned into a strong offensive output by the visitors as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team dropped a 9-0 Liberty League decision to Union College on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 5-9-1 overall and 0-5-0 in conference play while Union remained undefeated in the Liberty League with a 5-0-1 mark and 12-1-2 overall record.

While Union had several chances in the first half, Clarkson goalkeeper Lauren Arredondo (Allendale, NJ) was up to task, making five saves. The Dutchmen came through with a goal midway through the half when Chelsea Hargis picked a pass out of mid air from Erika Eisenhut to put Union up 1-0.

The second half saw a flurry of goals by the Dutchmen as they quickly put the game out of reach. Erika Eisenhut scored goals at 47:03, 55:35, 57:10, and 58:09 in a five-goal burst that saw Union take a 6-0 lead. Caitlin Cuozzo was the other goal scorer early on in the second half, her team-leading 10th goal of the season.

Ashley Brown also came off the bench to score twice for the Dutchmen and Karen Bertasso scored a goal with just eight seconds remaining, with Brown earning the assist. Cassandra Mariani also contributed two assists for Union.

Arredondo finished the game with nine saves in 90 minutes while Julie Gawronski stopped two shots in the first half for Union. Gawronski was replaced late in the second half by Kaitlin Graham, who didn't face a shot on goal in the final 13:49.

Union out shot the Knights 28-3 overall and owned a 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
