Oswego, NY – Senior Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) and junior Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) combined for 10 goals Tuesday afternoon, but a late rally for Oswego State sunk the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team’s hopes of a road victory as the Golden Knights fell 15-13 at Oswego.
The Golden Knights fell to 3-4 overall and return to conference action this weekend against defending national champion Hamilton College on Friday. Oswego State improved to 4-2 overall.
Clarkson took little time getting on the scoreboard, posting a goal with just 42 second expired from the clock, but Oswego scored five of the next six goals to take a 5-2 lead with just under 12 minutes to go in the half. Clarkson rallied to pull within a goal by halftime as Kimberly Loucks scored two of her three first-half goals in the final 10 minutes of the period.
Starting the second half, the Lakers scored two quick goals to re-establish their three-goal lead. The Knights gained the momentum on a pretty goal by Emily Bojarski, with Brittnie Carroll (Dexter, NY) earning the assist from across the 8-meter area on a two-on-one. That goal started a run of seven goals in a 13-minute span while the Lakers scored just two in that same time frame. Unfortunately, it seemed the Knights scoring prowess peaked too early as the Lakers ended the game with a four-goal scoring streak to claim the 15-13 win.
Bojarski finished with seven points for the Knights, scoring six goals and an assist. Senior Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) matched her with seven points on three goals and four assists. Loucks finished with four goals and Carroll had three assists. Freshman Nikki Corso (Derry, NH) also added an assist to go along with her team-highs of seven groundballs and four caused turnovers.
Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) made 15 saves for the Knights.
Leading Oswego were Rachel Raffa with seven points and Rachel Ventresca, who added six points. Each scored four goals.
