Potsdam, NY - With a 21-point effort from Tytravia Riley, Bard College never trailed against the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team, downing the Golden Knights 52-46 in Liberty League action Friday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights fell to 2-9 overall on the season and 0-3 in the Liberty League, while Bard edged over .500 to move to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in conference games. Clarkson will take on Vassar College on Saturday, while the Raptors will face St. Lawrence University.

The Golden Knights started off slow and had only a pair of points in the opening five minutes, forcing a timeout by head coach John Hampton. Bard, however, was pounding the ball inside to its freshman forward Tytravia Riley, who had five of the team’s first nine points in the first four minutes. Clarkson chipped away, tying the score at 15-15 following a lay in from freshman Morgan Hinckley (Blue Mountain Lake, NY) with just over five minutes to go. Bard quickly reclaimed the lead, only to see it vanish again with the score knotted up at 22-22, but the Raptors would end the half with a 5-0 run to take a lead into the locker room.

Freshman Ashley Loggins (Albany, NY) posted a double-double in the first half with 11 points (5-for-9 shooting) and 10 rebounds, while Bard’s Tytravia Riley nearly matched the performance with a near double-double of her own, recording 14 points and eight rebounds.

In the second half, the Knights were able to get back to within three points on a couple of occasions, and trailed 32-29 after a pair of free throws from Isabella Esposito (Essex, VT), but Bard scored seven straight points, topped off by a 3-pointer from Bianka Bell at the 13:35 mark, to gain a 10-point advantage. Clarkson appeared ready to make a run in the late going, but Ashley Loggins fouled out on a reach in with five minutes to go, shortening the Knights bench even more. Bard was able to make key shots down the stretch and finished the game with a six-point lead as Clarkson couldn't convert enough on the offensive end to reduce the gap.

Loggins finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, having her playing time diminished considerably in the second half due to foul trouble. Classmate Colleen Daley (Orchard Park, NY) picked up the slack by scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds to go along with her four blocked shots.

Riley closed with 21 points and 15 rebounds, shooting 7-for-10 from the floor overall, while tacking on three steals. Bianka Bell also added 10 points for Bard.
