Clarkson Volleyball Preview - Knights Host St. Lawrence on Tuesday

Sophomores Victoria Kirkemo and Aishvina Arasu are just two of the many weapons Clarkson possesses on offense.
Winners of six straight matches overall, the Clarkson University Volleyball team looks to maintain that winning streak plus their unbeaten stretch in conference games when the Golden Knights host St. Lawrence University at 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights, 23-6 overall and receiving the most votes of any teams outside the AVCA top 25, are a perfect 8-0 in the Liberty League, having swept seven of the eight matches. St. Lawrence, 17-7 overall, is just a half-game out of second place in the Liberty League at 6-2.

Clarkson swept the Saints in three sets earlier this year to open up league play, winning 25-8, 25-15, 27-25 to start off its perfect run through the conference thus far. Clarkson hit .266 in the opening match against St. Lawrence (40-11-109), and boasted 14 aces, including four each by Victoria Kirkemo (Englewood, CO) and Erika Chin (Katy, TX). The Saints hit .000 in the match (18-18-101).

The Knights have played a difficult schedule overall this year, and those matches have prepared them well against league foes, as Clarkson's numbers top nearly every leaderboard in league play. In eight matches, Clarkson is hitting .316 as a team and allowing only a .018 hitting percentage, while ranking first in assists (12.6), kills (13.5) and aces (3.56). The top three hitters in the league play for Clarkson's offense as Xiao Liang (Tianjin, China) is hitting .426 in eight conference matches, followed by Adrienne Walker (Centennial, CO) at .379 and Aishvina Arasu (Brea, CA) at .362. Senior setter Lani Durio (Austin, TX) averages just under 10.7 assists per set and classmate Erika Chin supports the defense with 5.42 digs per set.

Overall, Clarkson and St. Lawrence rank as the top two offenses in the Liberty League, with Clarkson topping the rankings in hitting percentage, assists, kills, and aces, and St. Lawrence ranking second in hitting percentage, assists, kills, and aces while leading the conference in blocks.
