Potsdam, NY – Juniors Katie Sergeant and Aubrey Borgesi each scored four goals for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights tallied eight unanswered goals in a stretch of 15 minutes to gain a 15-6 victory over SUNY Canton on Tuesday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights evened their season mark at 4-4 overall with the victory while SUNY Canton dropped to 6-2 on the season. Clarkson returns to Liberty League action this weekend when it hosts Vassar College.

The Green and Gold offense took a bit to truly get rolling, but the Knights defense was up to task in the early going as Carolynn Pechmann made several solid saves in the defensive end to keep Canton fairly quiet. Clarkson was up 3-1 with 17 minutes expired from the clock, but goals from Natalie Farnett and Aubrey Borgesi scored 98 seconds apart to push the lead to 5-1. Canton won the ensuing draw and Devin Kelly scored at 10:36, but that was the last goal the Roos would record for more than 20 minutes of game time.

During the Roos' scoreless stretch, Clarkson took advantage, scoring four times in the last 10 minutes of the first half, including two in the final 93 seconds, with Sydney Roderick's score with 31 seconds to go marking the final tally of the half (9-2). Just 28 seconds into the second half, Roderick was at it again with a goal, and both Katie Sergeant and Aubrey Borgesi scored quickly as well to keep the clock moving. On two occasions, Canton was able to reduce the margin to single digits to stop the clock, but for the majority of the second half the Knights held a comfortable advantage and kept the game moving with insurance goals.

Clarkson owned a 34-22 edge in shots (25-17 shots on goal) and also won the battle on draw controls, 14-9. Sydney Roderick tallied five points on two goals and three assists while Sergeant and Borgesi each scored four goals. Abby Collins added three points, four groundballs and three draws, and Natalie Farnett also scored three points, including two goals. Jaid Baytos was dominant on draws, winning in eight, and also added two points. Amanda Ellman led the defense with four groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. Pechmann finished with five saves in 34:36 of action, and Samantha Gladd denied six shots in the final 25:24.

For Canton, Devin Kelly scored three goals to lead the offense, while MaryClare Bowes tossed in two goals, five groundballs and two caused turnovers. Mia Jermano was active on defense with six groundballs and three caused turnovers. Madison Leary made five saves in the first half for the Roos and Nicole Piskorowski denied five shots in the second half.
