CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - vs. Union College (4/25)

For the second time in four days, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will play host to a top-10 ranked team as the Golden Knights take on eighth-ranked Union College in Liberty League action Sunday afternoon at Hantz Field.

The Series: The two teams have met 41 times over the years, with most of those games coming as members of the UCAA or Liberty League. Clarkson has won 15 against the Dutchmen's 26 victories, and Union has won six straight, with the Knights last victory coming in 2013.

Key Stats for Clarkson (3-6, 1-2 Liberty League): Grad student Conor Bartlett has enjoyed success against the Dutchmen, scoring five goals and two assists in three games, with his best performance coming in 2018 when he had three goals and both of his assists. Bartlett leads the team with 34 points on 14 goals and 20 assists, inching closer to numerous career milestones like 100 goals, 100 assists, and 200 points, all of which are in reach before the close to the season. Sophomore Matthew Hansen has excelled on face-offs this year, winning two-thirds of his tries (76-for-114), including 75% over the last four contests. Freshman Matt Szwagulinski is among the team leaders in both groundballs (23) and caused turnovers (12), as is senior Tyler King (30 groundballs, 11 caused turnovers).

Key Stats for Union (3-1, 2-1 Liberty League): The Dutchmen dropped their first game of the season to Ithaca on Wednesday by one goal, the same deficit that Clarkson fell to the Bombers two weeks ago. Sam Byrne is winning 67.8% of his face-off attempts (61-for-90) and leads the team with 33 groundballs. Keaton McCann is the team's top offensive player so far with 13 goals and 15 total points, though Peter Burnes (8-6-14) is within striking distance. Both Hayden Frey (8-2-10) and Brian Davis (5-5-10) have also hit double-figures in points through four games. In the crease, Dan Donahue has an 8.00 goals against average and a .551 save percentage in 165 minutes of action.
