Clarkson will start the 2023-24 season with a trip to South Bend for a weekend series with Notre Dame. The Knights will feature a balance of returning firepower and depth at defense with 11 new players in the locker room.
The Knights have landed in 4th place in the pre season ECAC Coaches Poll and with the return of some 5th year firepower and a deep D core, the Knight should be in the hunt for a return to Lake Placid and their 23rd NCAA Tournament Bid.
Clarkson have faced the Irish 4 times, going 2-2. The last meeting was in Manchester, NH, when the Irish came from behind to win on overtime in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament in 2019.
Clarkson first faced Coach Jackson when he was the Head Coach of Lake Superior State in 1991. The Knights defeated his Lakers in the NCAA best of 3 series to advance to the Frozen Four. Clarkson is 3-3 all time vs Coach Jackson led teams.
The Knights will return three players that will use their 5th year of eligibility from the COVID season.
Dustyn McFaul,
Anthony Romano, &
Mathieu Gosselin will all do a graduate year while playing a 5th season. Clarkson also picked up 5 players in the transfer portal:
Eric Ciccolini from Univ of Michigan,
Jack Judson from Arizona St,
Jesse Tucker from Michigan St,
Cody Monds from Providence, &
Austin Roden from Providence.
At forward the Knights return 135 points in 9 players. The two top point producers from last year will be in the ice again this year in
Ayrton Martino and
Mathieu Gosselin.
From the Blueline, Clarkson has great depth with 6 returners. Every returner saw action in at least 23 games. Of the newcomers,
Jack Judson is a grad transfer who has played in 128 games while at ASU.
In the crease is where the Knights have the least experience. Last season
Brady Parker played well in two starts vs Yale and 75 minutes of time replacing Haider. Grad Transfer
Austin Roden has 31 games played between Nebraska and Providence. Clarkson will also look to incoming freshman,
Emmett Croteau to develop into a starter. Croteau is a 2022 Montreal Canadians Draft Pick and has had two strong years with Waterloo in the USHL.
Tonights game can be streamed on Peacock and heard on B99.3 Fm.
