Knights Fall Short in Doubleheader Against Dickinson

Auburndale, FL – Late inning miscues led to late inning runs for the opposition, as the Clarkson University Baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep against Dickinson College on Sunday, falling 12-1 in game one and 7-3 in game two.

The Golden Knights will take a day off on Monday and look to rebound against Keystone College on Tuesday, Emerson College on Wednesday, and SUNY Oneonta on Thursday.

In the opener, the Red Devils scored three in the second inning to take an early lead, but Clarkson rallied in the bottom of the third when Caleb Doyle singled in Joe Pagano. The score remained 3-1 through four innings, but Dickinson scored three in the fifth, three in the sixth, and three in the seventh, taking advantage of five Clarkson errors.

The second game saw Clarkson gain an early lead when Colby Brouillette doubled home CJ Cartier in the first. The Knights picked up another run in the fourth on a Quinn Maslowski hit that plated Jake Millich, but Dickinson would score three in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the fifth. The tying run for the Red Devils came home on a double play, but two more scored in the fourth on an outfield error. Dickinson picked up its fifth run in the fifth with a bases loaded walk and then got two more on another Clarkson error. The Knights battled back with a run in the sixth on a Robert Whalen double, but it was not enough for a comeback.

Doyle was 2-for-3 in the opener for the Knights, while Millich scored two runs and was 2-for-3 in the second contest.
