CU Volleyball Preview - vs. Hamilton/Oswego State (9/8-9)

Following a successful 3-0 weekend in Pennsylvania, the Clarkson University Volleyball team gets to play on its home court this Friday and Saturday as the Golden Knights take on Hamilton College and Oswego State at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Series: The Golden Knights haven't faced Hamilton College since 2010, but they do hold a 17-12 all-time record against the Continentals, including an 11-game winning streak. Oswego State and Clarkson are tied at 20-20, with the Knights having won 10 of 13 in the 21st century.

Key Stats for Clarkson (3-0): The Green and Gold will look to get out of the gates a little stronger this weekend, after having dropped each of the first three sets against their opponents in Pennsylvania. Clarkson's service game was strong in its first three matches, recording 40 aces (3.08 per set). Senior Sara Galante was the biggest contributor from the service line, posting 14 aces, more than one per set, while Isabelle Crow chipped in nine more aces. Despite some close matches, the Golden Knights allowed only 9.15 kills per set in their first weekend.

Key Stats for Hamilton (1-0): The Continentals opened their season with a victory against Morrisville State on Tuesday, winning in straight sets. Summer McClintic posted a .600 hitting percentage (10-1-15) and had four blocks in the win, and she averaged 2.42 kills per set a year ago. Elodie McGeiver (8 kills) and Kate Carman (7 kills) also had solid outings, and Carman was the team leader in kills per set a year ago (3.54). Melissa Morelli averaged 8.43 assists per set a year ago, but she and Pati Cerda split the setting duties on Tuesday, posting 29 total assists.

Key Stats for Oswego State (0-3): The Lakers have yet to find a go-to offensive player, with none of their athletes averaging more than two kills per set. Sydney Chiffriller averaged 1.86 kills per set, but played in only seven of the 12 games. Olivia Bunn (1.50 kps), Cara Simplicio (1.33 kps), and Georgia Farry (1.33 kps) have also contributed on offense. Kaylee Troy is averaging 4.25 digs per set. Oswego has struggled a bit on serve receive so far, with 30 reception errors (2.50 per set).
