Knights make final road trip of regular season

The #4 ranked Golden Knights will make their final road trip of the regular season, as they travel to Princeton and Quinnipiac to face two ranked opponents for the 3rd straight weekend.

The Knights will travel to #12 Princeton and #8 Quinnipiac looking to lock up a top 4 spot in the ECAC and take another step towards securing the programs 12th NCAA Tournament Bid.  A win in regulation will lock in a top 4 ECAC spot and guarantee a home ice series in the quarterfinals.

The Knights come into the weekend 4th in the Pairwise and 4th in the USCHO Poll.  The Knights sit in 2nd place in the ECAC, just 1.5 points out of first.

Last weekend saw the Knights jump out to a quick lead and hold Colgate to just 1 goal in a 3-1 win.  The next night, Clarkson ran into a hot goalie for Cornell, as they shot 46 on net but were unable to score in a 3-0 loss to the Big Red.

Clarkson is getting balance across the lineup in both scoring and defensive play.  The top two lines have 75 and 63 points making it tough for teams to key in one just one line and if that isn't enough of a difficult match-up, the teams 2nd and 4th leading scorers are 2 D, Winn and Gosling.  Clarkson is also tops in the nation for a team Goals Against Average thanks to Michelle Pasiechnyk and Julia MinottiSena Catterall will be back in the line up after missing Saturday's game.

Coming into the weekend, Nationally, Clarkson is:
  • 2nd in penalty kill % with .911%
  • 2nd in winning percentage (.867%)
  • 5th in the country for Goals scored (104)
  • 1st in the nation for Scoring Defense
  • 5th nationally in assists (167)
  • 5th for team points (271)
  • 1st in goal against average (1.15)
  • 1st in the nation for team shutouts (10)
  • Clarkson is averaging 3.47 goals per game

Earlier this week, Clarkson's Anne Cherkowski was been nominated for the ECAC's Mandi Schwartz Student Athlete of the Year Award and Michelle Pashichnyk has been named a Semifinalists for the Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award.
