Knights Claim Second Conference Win with 20-3 Victory Against Bard

Potsdam, NY – Pushed back a day due to snow and cold, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team's offense stayed hot with a 20-3 Liberty League victory over Bard College on Sunday afternoon at Hantz Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference games while Bard fell to 1-7 and 0-3. Clarkson goes back to non-league play on Wednesday when it travels to Rochester to face Nazareth University.

Just 39 seconds into the game Clarkson was on the board when Julia Lavarnway found Madelynn Barnum in front. It was the beginning of a strong quarter for Lavarnway as she was a part of six of the Knights' nine goals in the opening 15 minutes, scoring three straight goals in the middle of the period and adding three assists.

Less than five minutes into the second quarter, the clock was rolling as the Knights were up by double digits on Isabella Koproski's goal at 10:51. The Knights would go through a five-minute scoreless drought, but the team found the back of the net four times in the last six minutes for a 15-1 lead at the half.

The Knights took their foot off the gas offensively in the final 30 minutes, but still led by a score of 20-2 when Brooklynne Perrigo scored with 4:28 go to. Just a player-up goal by Bard in the final minute was tallied for either team to close out the contest.

Lavarnway finished with six points on three goals and three assists, Madelynn Barnum scored five goals to go along with six draw controls, and Riley Kuczma produced five points on two goals and three assists. Brooklynne Perrigo scored three times and added three draws and Gabby Cranfield recorded three points with a goal and two assists. Abie Leighton also notched four groundballs and caused two turnovers.

For Bard, Izzi Popolizio had two points with a goal and one assist, Gloria Tucker scored once, and Gwendolyn Jamison added a goal. Lexie Blackburn made 10 saves for the Raptors.

Clarkson led in shots (39-10), shots on goal (30-3), groundballs (22-7), and draw controls (16-10).
