Behind a three-goal outing from sophomore Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT) and a 13-save performance from classmate Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH), the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team stayed close with Rensselaer for most of Saturday’s Liberty League contest before the Engineers pulled away late in the game to gain a 15-8 win at Hantz Turf Field.

The Engineers (6-5, 3-3 Liberty League) controlled the game from the start jumping out to a 2-0 lead three minutes in and holding a 5-3 lead at the half. The Golden Knights staged a rally midway through the second half and cut the visitors' lead to 10-8 on Campbell’s third goal with 7:26 remaining. Rensselaer, however, put the game away by scoring the final five goals.

Alissa Peterson scored a game-high six goals to lead the Engineers.

Freshman Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) tallied two goals and two assists to tie the Clarkson record for most points in a season. Through 12 games, the talented rookie has totaled 62 points on 41 goals and 21 assists, tying Kimberly Loucks (2009) and Emily Bojarski ’09 (2007) for the Knights’ single-season points mark.

Loucks also scored twice against RPI to add to her school-record for most career goals at 136, including 33 this season. Sophomore Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY) rounded out Clarkson’s scorers with one goal.

Rensselaer held the advantage in shots (34-20) and ground balls (21-16).

At 6-6 overall and 0-5 in the Liberty League, Clarkson host St. Lawrence on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in their final home game of the season.
