Sophomore Kerrie Cline (Tuxedo, NY) scored her third goal of the game to cap off a four-goal rally by the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team, tying the contest 15-15 at Vassar with 1:41 remaining, but the host Brewers tallied the final goal late in regulation to pull out a 16-15 victory in Liberty League play on Saturday at Weinberg Field.
Seventeen of the game’s 31 goals were scored in the first half with the Brewers holding an 11-6 halftime. Golden Knight junior midfielder Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT) was able to keep the Golden Knights within striking range with three first-half goals.
Scoring was not at the same pace for either team in the second half, although the Golden Knights were able to chip away at the Vassar lead and storm back into the game with a rush of late offense.
Seven different Golden Knights figured into the scoring. Clarkson got a stellar performance from Campbell, who had four goals, four assists and seven ground balls. Cline added four points (1-4). Sophomore Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) tallied three points on two goals and one assist.
