Clarkson Loses at RPI in Last game

A rough second-half outing led to a lopsided loss for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team, which closed out the 2014 campaign with an 18-3 road loss to Liberty League powerhouse Rensselaer in Troy, NY on Saturday.

The Golden Knights closed out the season with a 5-12 overall record and a 2-7 conference mark.

Clarkson got behind 3-0 to start the game, but outscored RPI (11-4, 9-0) 3-2 in the remainder of the first half to only trail 5-3 after 30 minutes. The Engineers, however, improved upon their unbeaten Liberty League mark by going on a 13-0 run in the second half to post the convincing victory.

Junior Cassie Grace (Potsdam, NY) scored two goals for Clarkson and classmate Abby Doyle (Syracuse, NY) found the back of the net once. Sophomore Christine Wright (Watertown, NY) and freshman Paige Fayette (Theresa, NY) tallied one assist apiece.

Erin DeLucca scored four goals to lead the Engineers.

RPI outshot Clarkson 35-13 and controlled ground balls 18-10.

Senior Kara DiNatale (Auburn, NH) (9) and senior Dani Tani (Heuvelton, NY) (1) combined to make 10 saves in the Knights' cage.
