CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - vs. Oswego State (3/9)

After falling to the defending NCAA Division III National Champions on Saturday, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team will look to put a slash in the win column when the team faces Oswego State, another SUNYAC opponent, on Wednesday.

The Golden Knights are 0-1 after their season-opening defeat at the hands of Cortland State, while the Lakers are playing their first game of 2016 on Wednesday. Clarkson has won three of the last four meetings against Oswego State, including an 11-10 victory in 2015.

Senior Christine Wright willed Clarkson to the win in last year's game, scoring three times in the last six minutes to turn a two-goal deficit into a one-goal victory. The three-time conference all-star led the Liberty League in scoring last year at 4.69 points per game and she tallied two points against Cortland on Saturday. Sophomore Taylor Collins produced a pair of goals for the Knights on Saturday as well.

While the Lakers produced a record of just 6-10 a season ago, Oswego returns its top five scorers and its starting goaltender from the team last year. Senior Erannan Shattuck recorded 58 points on 23 goals and 33 assists last year and classmates Emily Lange (33-6-39) and Esther Gabriel (25-11-36) also produced strong stat lines on offense. The latter duo also combined for 68 groundballs, 35 caused turnovers and 119 draw controls. Angela Ponto posted an 11.68 goals against average and also added 20 caused turnovers and 43 groundballs for the Lakers.
