CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - at Utica College (3/10)

One year to the day, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team will be back on the same field against the same opponent as the Golden Knights travel to face Utica College this Saturday for a fourth non-league contest before the team opens conference play next weekend.

The Series: A scheduling oddity has the Knights playing on March 10th at Utica for the second straight year, with Clarkson hoping for repeat results. The Green and Gold beat the Pioneers 11-7 last year, thanks to three goals from Taylor Collins. Clarkson leads the all-time series 10-8 with wins in four of the last six meetings.

Key Stats for Clarkson (2-1): Facing its first non-SUNYAC opponent of 2018, the Knights look to maintain an offense that has scored at least 10 goals in three straight contests. Junior Jaid Baytos leads the team with 10 points on nine goals and an assist and also owns the top figure in draw controls with 17. Senior Taylor Collins is tied for second on the team in points with eight (7-1-8) and leads the squad with nine groundballs and eight caused turnovers. Sophomore Abby Collins has chipped in with eight goals in three games for the Knights.

Key Stats for Utica (1-1): Only one player on the Pioneers has ever scored a goal against the Knights (senior Brooke Miller). Miller tallied twice in last year's game against the Golden Knights, and in 2016 the Pioneers could muster just a single score in an 11-1 loss. Miller leads the team in scoring this year with six points on five goals and an assist, but newcomer Lauren Wolff is tied with six points on a reversal of Miller's stats with a goal and five assists. Katlyn Scarpinella is a steady contributor across the board with five points (3-2-5), five groundballs, five caused turnovers and 13 draw controls.
