CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - at Skidmore/Union (4/20-21)

With three games left on the schedule, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team is vying for its first Liberty League playoff spot in program history and the Golden Knights have two key games this weekend at Skidmore and Union.

Live Stats/Live Video vs. Union

The Series vs. Skidmore – In 29 all-time meetings, Clarkson has just five wins against the Thoroughbreds, though one of those victories came last season with the Knights gaining an 8-7 victory at Hantz Turf Field.

The Series vs. Union – The Dutchwomen have never lost to Clarkson in 22 games, though the last two contests have been tight. Union beat Clarkson 15-13 last season and also outlasted the Knights in overtime in 2016.

Key Stats for Clarkson (10-4, 4-3 Liberty League): In the past two weeks, both senior Taylor Collins and junior Jaid Baytos eclipsed the 100-point mark for their collegiate careers, but the pair may have company next year if a trio of sophomores continue at their current paces. Baytos is the team's leading scorer with 49 points, but sophomores Katie Sergeant (27-5-32), Emma Andrews (27-5-32) and Abby Collins (23-8-31) have each added considerably to their career totals while propelling the Knights to 10 victories. Junior Samantha Gladd ranks second in the league in goals against average (7.95) and is fourth in save percentage (.520).

Key Stats for Skidmore (9-5, 5-2 Liberty League): Freshman Emily Hirsch has quickly emerged as not only one of the best first-year collegians in the league, but in the region, as she ranks fifth in the conference in goals (36) and is also in the top 10 in the league in groundballs (40), draws (49) and caused turnovers (22). She holds a narrow lead in points (42) at Skidmore, just one ahead of junior Natalie LaBeau, who has produced 27 goals and 14 assists for 41 points. Fellow junior Cas Szwajkowski is next in scoring for Skidmore with 38 points, and she enjoyed a four-goal outing against Clarkson in 2017.

Key Stats for Union (0-10, 0-5 Liberty League): The Dutchwomen have struggled mightily in 2018, going winless after reaching double figures in that category just two seasons ago. Union's issues come from a low-scoring offense and a porous defense, scoring just 70 times in 10 games while allowing more than twice as many goals (144). Cailin Pandolfi, who scored three points with five draw controls in last year's win against the Knights, leads the team with 23 points on 15 goals and eight assists. Juniors Hannah Rosenberger (13-4-17) and Ramsey Walsh (9-6-15) are second and third on the team in scoring. Celia Condrick has stood out on defense with team-highs of 26 groundballs and 15 caused turnovers.
