CU Women's Basketball Preview - vs. St. Lawrence (2/6)

After a long break from game action, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon when the team hosts Route 11 rival St. Lawrence University at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Series: This will be the 93rd all-time meeting between the two teams over the last 46 seasons, with Clarkson winning 21 times. St. Lawrence swept the season series a year ago, holding Clarkson to just 32 points in the second contest, the fewest points the Knights had scored against the Saints since the 2003-04 season. 

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-1): Graduate student Molly Stewart has averaged 16.0 points per game in her last three outings against the Saints, including 19 in the Knights' last victory against St. Lawrence. Clarkson received a solid all-around effort from Emma Buonanno in the season-opener, as the senior guard posted a double-double thanks to 20 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Tess Maline showed plenty of promise with nine points in 19 minutes off the bench in Clarkson's first game of the year. 

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (0-0): Many St. Lawrence players are learning remotely to save their eligibility for future seasons, so the Saints have a smaller roster that is made up of freshmen and two sophomores. The only player who saw regular action a year ago for the Saints is sophomore Olivia Middleton. One of the better first-year collegians in the conference, Middleton averaged 8.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game, with the latter two figures leading St. Lawrence. Middleton was held mostly in check against Clarkson last year, averaging 6.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.0 steals per contest in two games against the Knights.
