The first two games of the season for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team came against teams from the SUNY system and that trend will continue this weekend as the Golden Knights take on local rivals SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam on Friday and Saturday.

Clarkson's contest against the Kangaroos will be on the road, while Saturday's tilt versus the Bears will take place at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Series: Clarkson is 11-3 all-time against the Roos and the Knights have won the last two contests, including a 23-point victory in 2021. The Knights have not had success against the Bears in the last three meetings, losing by double figures in each contest since 2018.

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-2): Senior Ryan Miles-Ferguson is off to a solid start for the Knights, averaging 16.5 points per game with 5.0 rebounds per contest, shooting 48.0% from the floor overall. Classmate Blake Gearhart is chipping in 11.5 points and 5.0 assists per game, and also snagging 2.5 rebounds. In the first two games, Clarkson has received sparks off the bench in Garret Delaney and Frankie Rainville. Delaney scored 18 points as a reserve in Clarkson's narrow loss to Plattsburgh State, while Rainville tossed in 16 points and was 4-for-4 from beyond the 3-point arc versus Oswego State. Sophomore forward Finn Cork has also excelled in his role off the bench, averaging 8.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, including six offensive rebounds in the first two games.

Key Stats for SUNY Canton (1-2): The Kangaroos have struggled from the perimeter in the first three games, shooting just 12-for-48 from beyond the arc (25.0%), while opponents are 29-for-71. Quran DuBois leads the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game while also contributing 6.7 rebounds per game, including a 28-point effort in the Roos' last game. Juztin Chambers-Phillips (8.7 ppg), DeMerrill levy (8.3 ppg), and Terrence Fields (8.0 ppg) are the next three scorers for Canton, though their numbers fell in the last game when DuBois broke out, as each scored four points against Alfred State.

Key Stats for SUNY Potsdam (1-2): Since scoring only 53 points in the first game against one of the better defenses in the country, the Bears have surpassed 84 points in the next two games, scoring 89 and 84. Those numbers have come despite less than stellar shooting percentages from outside, as the Bears are just 15-for-65 (23.1%) from the 3-point arc. Brandon Segar, Jr. leads the team in most categories, averaging 19.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Ahamadou Sillah is chipping in 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest, and Colton Huestis is averaging 12.7 points per game thus far.
