Ithaca, NY – Senior Julia Lavarnway scored four points, including the 100th point of her collegiate career, but the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team was unable to keep pace with 13th-ranked Ithaca College as the Golden Knights dropped a 15-10 Liberty League decision on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in conference games while the Bombers moved to 7-2 and 4-0. Clarkson will face another team that has been ranked in the top 25 this year next Friday, when the team hosts SUNY Geneseo.

Ithaca never trailed in Saturday's contest, but the Bombers also never had a truly comfortable advantage in the game. The two teams were tied 11 minutes into the contest before the Bombers rattled off three scores in final three-plus minutes of the first quarter. Though the lead would expand to as many as six on two occasions at the end of the second and start of the third, Clarkson rallied early in the third period to cut the margin to three. Sydney Nakas, Madelynn Barnum, and Hailey Millington each scored in a stretch of six minutes to draw Clarkson back to 12-9. The Bombers came back with two scores just 30 seconds apart to return the margin to 14-9 with a little over five minutes to go in the third, but both teams were scoreless the rest of that quarter.

After 23 goals were scored between the two teams in the first three periods, the fourth quarter was relatively quiet in terms of scoring. Chloe Nordyke scored the final goal for the Bombers at 11:02, and the Knights picked up a goal from Chrissy Benedict with just under five minutes remaining, but that proved to be the final goal of the contest.

Lauren Shanahan scored five points on two goals and three assists to lead the Knights, while Lavarnway scored a goal and three assists, the first point being the 100th of her career. Hailey Millington also had four points on three goals and an assist. Madelynn Barnum scored twice and had four draw controls. Maeve Bartell caused three turnovers, Rylee Ganter caused two turnovers with three groundballs, and Ireland Morgia had three draws and three groundballs.

For Ithaca, Mary Veitch scored six goals while Chloe Nordyke (3-0-3) and Hayley Armstrong (0-3-3) had three points apiece. Caroline Wise won nine draw controls and scored two points and Lexi Kellish had seven draws and two points.

Ithaca outshot the Knights 38-25, though the number was closer in terms of shots on goal (24-19). Jennaca McGill made nine stops for Clarkson, and Lexi Held denied nine shots in the Ithaca crease.
