CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - vs. Geneseo/Vassar (3/31-4/1)

Senior day celebrations come early this year, as the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team will honor nine Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon as the team will host SUNY Geneseo and Vassar College this weekend at Hantz Field.

The Series: Clarkson has faced Geneseo just three times, losing all three contests. The most recent game was a 12-8 decision in early 2020. The Golden Knights are 8-14 against Vassar, but have won three of the past four games, including a 15-5 victory in 2022.

Key Stats for Clarkson (5-4, 0-3 Liberty League): The Golden Knights are looking to get on the board in conference contests, but are first playing a makeup game against Geneseo on Friday, which was originally slated as an away game in early March. Three players have already reached 20 goals for the Knights in 2023, as Lauren Shanahan and Madelynn Barnum have each scored 22 goals, while Chrissy Benedict has 21 scores. Mia Petrone enjoyed a big game against Vassar a year ago, winning seven draw controls and scoring four points on three goals and an assist.

Key Stats for Geneseo (4-2): The Knights are on a recent roll, having dominated two SUNYAC opponents recently with double-digit victories against SUNY Potsdam and Buffalo State. The combined score of the last two contests is 36-4. Maggie Rosaschi has produced solid numbers in the Geneseo crease with a 7.73 goals against average and .500 save percentage in 225 minutes of play. Molly Brown leads the team on offense with 24 points thanks to 14 goals and 10 assists. Emily Salanger has the top number in goal scored for Geneseo (15) and both Brown and Alaina Reina have 14 goals.

Key Stats for Vassar (5-2, 2-1 Liberty League): The Brewers are off to a solid start in league games with two victories in three tries. Maddy Kretten leads the Liberty League in both goals per game (3.57 gpg) and points per game (5.14 ppg), and she has accumulated a total of 36 points on 25 goals and 11 assists. Emma Torkelson ranks second on the team in both points (21) and goals (18), but she leads the team in groundballs (21) and caused turnovers (11). Catherine Peacock is the top contender for draw controls, winning 23 near midfield. Lauren Johns has played 326 minutes in the Vassar crease, posting a 10.10 goals against average and .518 save percentage with 59 stops this year.
